The Ferrari F40 is one of the most well known Ferrari models on the planet. It’s instantly recognizable and will probably remain an icon for years to come. Produced from 1987 to 1992 the car produced a good amount of power for its time. The 2.9L twin turbo V8 had an output of 471hp and 426lb-ft of torque.
Even having that power nowadays can pose a problem if you aren’t use to it. That’s what happened to one new owner. He purchased the F40 from a dealership and went cruising around of speeds no more than 45mph.
At one point he accidentally hit the accelerator a little to much which caused the car to lose traction and crash. Granted the car is older so it doesn’t have that advance of a traction control system like modern vehicles. Within 30 minutes of driving the car off the lot he wrecked the car which caused over $300,000 in damage.
Depending on the condition some Ferrari F40s can sell between $900,000 to $1.4m. Drivers have stated that the F40 can be a difficult car to manage. Let us know what you think below.
