Oil Change Gone Wrong – The result is red-hot

  • • Oil Change Gone Wrong
  • • Chevy Impala Explodes at Quick Lube Shop
  • • Luckily no one was hurt!

When your service interval comes up for your vehicle most people usually take it to a shop to get it serviced. Some shops specialize in certain work. For instance Quick Lube shops mostly service oil changes and minor work. Well a customer took their car in for an oil changed and the vehicle they returned was not exactly how the customer had left it.

A oil change is fairly simple. When the engine is warm you can unplug the oil drain plug and remove the oil filter. After the oil drains you tighten everything back up and fill the engine back up to the manufacturer specified capacity. Easy-in easy-out. Mistakes can be made where the oil is replaced which can be catastrophic after a startup.

In the video below though it is not exactly clear why the engine decided to explode. You can see that the lube tech replaces the cap on what appears to be a Chevy Impala. he then enters the vehicle and starts the engine. Instantly the top of the engine explodes in a fiery blaze. Our only guess is that there might have been some fuel that ignited. We’ll let you decide. Luckily it doesn’t appear that anyone was injured. They were able to douse the blaze with a fire extinguisher. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
