Events at drag strips gives racers an opportunity to run their car and not their mouth. One popular event is Import Face Off. The event allows anyone to run at the drag strip. Although whenever racing or money is involved things can get rather heated.
At the Dragway 42 in Ohio, one bystander was shot and killed after a shootout at the event. Reportedly there was someone driving recklessly inside the grounds. It is believed that he was intoxicated. At some point, the man got out of his truck and chucked some gravel at parked cars.
There was a physical altercation that prompted the drunk man to pull his gun and start shooting. One of the other individuals was armed and returned fire in self-defense. An upwards of 20 shots were fired. One unrelated bystander was hit with a stray bullet and died at the scene.
There were reportedly 6 people who were shot at Dragway 42. The man who started the fight fled and is still on the run. It’s unfortunate that stuff like this happens at our car events. It really does make the car community look bad. We need to focus on settling our beefs on the track.
Hopefully the find the guy who started all of this and he gets what he deserves.
