The recreational use of marijuana is now legal in the state of Michigan. Last November 57% of Michigan voters said that they would approve use of the drug for recreational use. The law passed and was set to start December the 1st 2019.
On the day that dispensaries could legally start selling weed a man was traveling at a high rate of speed on the highway. Due to road conditions he lost control of the his truck. He spun almost 180 degrees and crashed into a Michigan State Trooper. He ended up damaging his tire and the front left of his truck as well as destroying the left rear of the Trooper’s SUV.
The driver had his blood drawn and it was verified that he was under the use of marijuana. The driver of the truck was uninjured but the Trooper sustained minor injuries and was sent to the hospital. Troopers wanted to remind residents that,
on the day legal marijuana can be purchased, do not smoke and drive
The trooper was transported to the hospitals and was treated for minor injuries and released. This is a reminder that on the day legal marijuana can be purchased, do not smoke and drive. Just like alcohol use a ride service, designated driver or stay home. #DriveMichiganSafely pic.twitter.com/W3P9c1u1rw
